Sneak Peek: Nidhi & Eric

Wow, what a wedding! What an experience!

Sunday Ceremony Nidhi and Eric

I definitely need some time to collate the full post about Nidhi and Eric’s wedding – and serious consultation with the bride and groom to make sure I get everything right! The Rajasthan wedding, held at Neemrama Fort Palace was certainly one to remember. Not only were the weekend festivities memorable and fun, with the bride and groom donning two extravagant outfits to gawk at, but the merging of both Nidhi and Eric’s worlds was seamless. Friends and family all got along famously, with new friendships formed over the days at the Fort.

A selection of two highlights before I leave you with a few photos

  • Spending time with Nidhi! Getting to spend some valuable time with Nids before, during and after the wedding festivities was so special to me. Destination weddings really give you a lot more opportunity to spend time with the couple, as everyone is in the one place. But both Nidhi and Eric really made so much effort to spend time with us, and make everyone a part of the experience. Spending time with Nidhi both mornings of her wedding events was precious, and I feel so honoured to have been a part of it with her.
  • New friends! Not only did I get to finally meet Eric, Nidhi’s beau (who is wonderful by the way!), but Les and I got to make some new special friends. You truly enjoy experiences when you like the people you’re with, and having some of Nidhi and Eric’s dearest friends in one place meant that we really got to know a few people quite well.

I”m saving all the beautiful wedding ceremonies and rituals for the main post, but here’s a few sneak peek photos to tide you over! Those who already follow me on Instagram will already have had a bit of eye candy! Read the rest of this entry

Bridal Birdcage Veil

My good friend Ebony wore the most stunning birdcage veil at her wedding a few years ago, and I absolutely adored hers. She looked so classic and beautiful, and really complemented her dress. I just had to share some photos of her on her big day!

I think there are more and more brides that opt for the birdcage veil, or bridal hairpieces instead of the full veil. I think they really allow you to have a bit more uniqueness to your look. What do you think about fascinator veils?

Black tie mismatched bridesmaids

I hadn’t thought to do another post on mismatched bridesmaid dresses, as you all know by now how much of a fan I am of them! But a friend in LA sent me this a few days ago, which was featured on her local tanning specialist, Sunkissed by Jenni website.

These ladies look absolutely stunning, and I think are such a true representation of a perfectly ‘mismatched’ bridesmaids for a black tie wedding. They are suitably formal, while still looking like they are part of the same bridal party.

Short and sweet, and sorry for blabbing on so much about mismatched bridal dresses. I am clearly keen to do this in my own wedding!

What do you think of these ladies and their dust rose ensemble?

Choosing artificial flowers for your wedding bouquet

The lovely Nicole from “How Divine” has been talking to me about artificial flowers for a while now, and so I asked her to write a few words to share with you all!

How Lovely bouquet

Brides are faced with so many options when planning their wedding, and choosing the right wedding flowers can be a tricky decision. A number of brides aren’t quite sure what flowers will be in season on their wedding day, the average cost of flowers, which flowers look best together and even what to do with them after their wedding day! So many questions! Here’s a few hot tips if you’re considering using artificial real touch flowers for your bouquets: Read the rest of this entry

Inspire Me Wednesday: Shannen Norman

As my last post on country style bridesmaid dresses were from a wedding that Shannen Norman photographed, it seemed only fitting to feature her work today. Getting a taste for what Shannen captures through her lens, I kept wanting more. Here’s a collection of photographs from her, I highly recommend browsing through her beautiful photographs yourself!

Chanel & Thomas: 14 April 2012

Gorgeous location, golden weather, a stunning bride and insanely happy couple.

What a perfect setting for a wedding, in Adelaide at St. Peter’s College Chapel. The school chapel of Thom’s, complete with benches placed horizontally and sideways to the alter so that we could all see the beautiful Chanel walk down the aisle to her groom. The stain glass detail in the chapel was truly beautiful, as well as picture perfect courtyards for photographs.

To go back in time, I met Chanel and Thomas at university on the Gold Coast, with Chanel and I becoming instant friends, and close ever since. We may live in different states, but we catch up a few times a year and always on emails, texts, phone calls, and of course Facebook. The now happy couple were inseparable even as friends at university, so it comes as no surprise to see how incredibly happy they make each other in love.

This photo is pre-relationship days…you can’t tell the difference right?! 😉

I still distinctly remember the day that Chanel called me, and was all excited saying “I kissed Thom last night”! And two years later, an excited text while on holidays in Thailand after Thom proposed to her. Couldn’t be happier for these two, they are such a picture perfect couple that have built such a wonderful life for themselves and their beautiful puppies.

Designer Spotlight: Vera Wang Bridal Collection 2013

Vera Wang is synonomous with a fairy tale wedding. This season is no exception. Vera Wang has just released her new bridal collection for 2013, showcasing rich red gowns with a range of textures, fabrics and volumes. Each gown emphasises various elements of the body, and another part is accentuated with excessive layers of mesh and tulle. The collection is said to be inspired by the traditional Chinese wedding colour palette and the celebration of love.

Increasingly brides are opting for something less traditional, but it’s a bold move. Vera Wang produces all her gowns in a more classic ivory or white, but doing the runway show in the hues of crimson and reds has certainly proved effective.

Love is in the air…

Something Borrowed - Lovebirds

Love is certainly in the air this April! Two of my darling friends have just gotten engaged!

Congratulations to the beautiful Melissa and Rezwan who got engaged in Egypt of all places, while travelling with Melissa’s family. What a way to propose, I’m sure it will be a memorable one for the family! 😉

And to my amazingly talented colleague, and most wonderful friend, Kara! Too cute that Craig couldn’t wait until their planned holiday to ask KJ to marry him. What a romantic, setting up a table on the beach with balloons and french champagne…Congrats you guys!

Designer Spotlight: Karen Willis Holmes

If you’ve ever stepped into a Karen Willis Holmes boutique, you know how truly spectacular her gowns are. The clear influence of the 18th century woman, her style is sophisticated and  a twist of modern.
